The making of room 3's movie

WALT: Write about our experience of movie making.

What I enjoyed about this was that in the end of it all we got cookies.

What I found challenging about making the movie was trying to find the right shots for the camera and some other stuff.

I think I could have done better in saying my lines and being more confident.

I think we could make a remake on an old movie.

Radio Flyer

WALT - Engage our readers by using precise language in our writing

"I was travelling in the 'Radio-Flyer and I was chatting to my granddad about aliens. Without warning the swing set, not far from where we were sitting, disintegrated into thin air, we were in space. Suddenly three huge scary UFOs appeared out of nowhere. The aliens looked like they wanted to take us to their leader or something. We dashed away like lightning trying to evade them as they chased us through space. In the distance there was a huge ship, it looked like the mother of all UFO ships. The ship fired up its massive laser guns and aimed at us, we thought for sure we were going to die. But it was just my imagination and it was just my dad coming up the the driveway.

This week we have been learning to use precise language to engage our readers.

Mean,Median,mode,range

Statistics                                                           name: Hosea

WALT- Identify the mean, median and mode within a collection of data

Activity One
Answer the questions in a different colour

The definition of the mean in a statistical investigation is commonly referred to as the average. It is the total of all the data divided by the amount of data shown.
For example: if we have this range of data 3,5,7,1,2,3,6,8

3+5+7+1+2+3+6+5  = 32  = 4
             8                      8

  1. Find the mean in this set of numbers:
3,7,8,4,2,6,5,4,3,9 = 51÷10 = 5 r 1
  1. Find the mean in the set of numbers
4,12,5,6,11,9,5 = 52 ÷ 7 = 7 r 3
  1. Find the mean in this tally chart
Pets owned by students
Number of students
Dogs
IIIII IIIII
Cats
IIIII IIIII II
Fish
IIII
Rabbits
II

  1. Find the mean in this set of numbers
24,12,16,18  70 ÷ 4 = 17 r 2
  1. Find the mean in this set of numbers
5,9,12,4,10,7  47 ÷ 6 = 7.r5
  1. CHALLENGE QUESTION: Find the mean within this data, use the frequency table to help you
1,5,5,2,1,2,5,5,5,5,1,2,1,5,5 50 ÷ 15 = 3 r 5

Score
Frequency

4
2

5
8
Total
15

Activity Two
Answer the questions in a different colour

The definition of the median is the middle number within a set of numbers that have been put in order from size (biggest to smallest or smallest to biggest)
For example: 2,6,4,1,9 = 1,2,4,6,9 and the middle number is 4.
BUT say if there is more than one middle number… the median is found by taking the number midway between the middle pair of numbers:
3,6,1,4,9,2 = 1,2,3,4,6,9 → 3 + 4 = 3.5
                                             2

Find the median in these sets of numbers

  1. 10,14,17,12,19,11,16
  2. 10,11,12,14,16,17,19 = 14

  1. 34,42,37,31,40 = 37
  2. 31,34,37,40,42

  1. 101, 167,138,124,198,149  = 143.5
  2. 101,

  1. 54, 58,52,57,53,60 =55.5
  2. 52,53,54,57,58,60

  1. 1001, 1094, 1023, 1065, 1038, 1027, 1042 =1038
  2. 1001,1023,1027,1038,1042,1065,1094

  1. Find the median within this tally chart

Pets owned by students
Number of students
Dogs
IIIII IIIII
Cats
IIIII II
Fish
IIII
Rabbits
IIIII III
Hamsters
II

10,12,4,8,2 =9
2,4,8,10,12

Activity Three
The mode is the most frequent number in a set of data. The number that occurs most often.
For example: In a set of numbers 3, 7, 8, 4, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3, 9 there is two modes, 3 and 4 because they appear twice in the data set.
Note- There can either be 0, 1 or 2 modes. If there are 3 or more numbers occur the same number of times, there is no mode.

Find the mode in these sets of numbers
  1. 2, 1, 5, 3, 7, 8, 5, 3 ,9 = 3 , 5
  2. 1, 5, 3, 2, 9 ,4, 1, 6, 8, 0  = 1
  3. 23, 45, 78, 12, 45, 67, 32, 46, 93, 12 = 12
  4. 101, 121, 123, 145, 167, 121, 139, 145, 176= 121
  5. 394, 273, 219, 294, 183, 291, 273, 288, 271 = 273

range

  1. 32, 34, 37, 40,41 =9
  2. 92, 94, 96, 98,100 = 8
  3. 69, 72, 74, 76,79,80 =11
  4. 52,54,55,57,58 = 6
  5. 111,112,115,120,125 =14

Why our intervals should be longer?

Todays title is going to be why our intervals should be longer… Why should it be longer? Because most of our time is spent learning but we could just do homework at home. Isn't that what wifi is for? Why can’t our intervals be longer, is it because they want us to learn more?.

Reason one. it may affect our learning, but how can we solve this problem?. Our morning tea should start earlier than it normally starts and our lunch should also be earlier. students love to talk to each other in class, most teachers get annoyed and tell them of give three strikes or even Re-Think.

Another reason kids should have longer intervals is because they might want to play outside longer or they might want to play Basketball longer. Some people have been asking why our intervals are short and why can’t they make it longer.

My last reason why students and kids should have longer intervals is because when students ask teachers to go to the toilet they go toilet but when they see their friends they play around and muck around in the toilets. Then end up getting in trouble.

I hope every body agrees with me and I hope that we get longer intervals

annual polyleshes festival

Yesterday team 5 went to the polyfest in manukau. The reason we went there was because we wanted to learn about different cultures. Polyfest is a three day annual polynesian festival or polyfest.

If I could choose the best think it would be the stalls that were every where. Like the counties manukau police. It was fun because there were  a lot that you know or did not know about police and what they do.

My second highlight was the stage’s like the Diversity stage, maori stage and the samoan stage. But my most favourite stage was the maori stage.

Polyfest is important to people especially to those who are not confident on stage because it helps be courageous on stage and help them perform with kia kaha. Another reason is it helps your social relation with other people and helps make friends

So next time you hear about polyfest come along and don't forget about the food.
